Department of Health and Family Welfare of West Bengal confirmed 389 new Coronavirus cases today. Total COVID-19 cases hike to 11087. Active cases as on date stand at 5552. A record 518 COVID-19 positive patients recovered today in West Bengal and 12 deaths reported today.
As presented in the graph, the growth rate of new Coronavirus cases remains at 4%.
COVID-19 District Wise Report
Kolkata, the worst affected district in West Bengal reported 158 cases in the last 24 hours taking the overall tally to 3672. Following that, Howrah and 24 North Parganas Districts host a total of 1722 and 1563 cases respectively. All 23 Districts in the state have reported 11 or more COVID-19 cases. Jhargram and Purulia districts have no COVID-19 active cases.
Tests in the State
Tests conducted till 14th June by the state are 333733. On 15th June, 9026 samples were tested for COVID-19 infection. For every 1 million people 3444 people have been tested. Out of the total samples tested, 3.32% have tested positive for coronavirus infection. Total testing laboratories in West Bengal have increased to 45 as two labs added this week.
Death Rate and Cured Cases
The coronavirus fatality rate in West Bengal decreased to 4.28% from yesterday’s 4.40%. The recovery rate increased to 45.64% from 40.83 with over 5060 patients cured. The death toll stands at 475 as 12 deaths were noted in the state today.
No Testing for Asymptomatic Coronavirus Patients
WB government has decided to stop conducting tests to patients that are not symptomatic. Further, the Union Ministry of Health states that asymptomatic patients are not at risk. Bearing in mind the massive COVID-19 cases surge in the past few days, the state is striving to focus on serious cases.
14 Unclaimed Bodies in Kolkata
West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar demands an explanation regarding the bodies from Kolkata Municipal Corporation. In response to that, NRS Medical College mentioned that the dead bodies were at the NRC hospital morgue, however none of them are COVID-19 patients.
