440 fresh Coronavirus cases reported in West Bengal today as total cases hike to 9768. Active cases as on date stand at 5338. Total of 209 COVID-19 positive patients cured and 10 deaths reported today in the state.
As presented on the graph, Coronavirus cases in West Bengal are rising at a concerning rate from the past couple of weeks. Also, the growth rate of new cases fell to 5% today from 6%.
COVID-19 District Wise Report
Kolkata District remains the worst affected district in West Bengal. In the last 24 hours, Kolkata reported 117 positive cases making the overall tally 3245. Following that, Howrah and 24 North Parganas Districts report a total of 1568 and 1325 cases respectively. All 23 Districts in the state have reported 11 or more COVID-19 cases. Jhargram district remains the least affected in the state with no fresh cases reported today and zero active cases.
Tests in the State
Tests conducted till 10th June by the state are 306941. On 11th June, 9522 sample were tested for COVID-19 infection. For every 1 million people 3167 people have been tested. Out of the total samples tested, 3.18% have tested positive for coronavirus infection. Total testing laboratories in West Bengal have increased to 44.
Death Rate and Cured Cases
The coronavirus fatality rate in West Bengal decreased to 4.52% from yesterday’s 4.63%. The recovery rate is at 40.83% with nearly 4000 patients cured and currently 3988 recoveries so far. The death toll is at 442 as ten deaths were noted in the state today.
Government Offices to Run In Shift Owing to COVID-19 Outbreak
Addressing the surge in coronavirus cases government is taking several measures to contain the spread. In one such attempt, government offices will function in staggered shifts to avoid contact between staff. Also, the government has strict rules on how to dispose of the bodies that died due to the coronavirus infection.
