Sensex and Nifty Open the Week in Red

Sensex and Nifty lost initial gains to settle low tracking sharp selling in the afternoon session. Sensex closed 63.29 points low at 30609.30 after trading 414.11 points positive. Nifty dropped 10.20 points to close at 9029.05 slipping from high of 133 points.

Asian markets made a good run today that boosted the Indian equity market’s morning session. However, in the later session, IT, Pharma and Bank stocks tracked high selling. Further, the increasing cases of Coronavirus amid the ease in lockdown restrictions created fear among the investors.

Experts suggest that the continuous drop in stock prices, coming sessions would mark downside trading.

Top Gainers: BSE, NSE, Sensex and Nifty 50

Birla Corporation was the top gainer on BSE rising by 20%. Vinyl Chemicals, National Fittin, Kothari Product and Vaksons Auto increased by 19.95%, 19.92%, 19.91% and 16.67% respectively. On NSE, Birla Corporation topped the list with 20%. In addition, other gainers included Kothari Product, Kothari Petro, Skipper and Lokesh Machines rising by 19.93%, 19.42%, 16.20% and 15.72% respectively.

In Sensex index, Titan Company surged the most by 5.14%. Followed by IndusInd Bank, Nestle, ITC and Maruti Suzuki increasing by 2.96%, 2.85%, 2.76% and 2.20% respectively. On Nifty 50, Eicher Motors topped the list by 6.34%, followed by JSW Steel, Ultra Tech Cement, Shree Cements and Hindalco rising 6.08%, 4.04%, 3.80% and 3.40% respectively.

Losers: BSE, NSE, Sensex and Nifty 50

On the BSE platform, Innovative Idea stock was affected the most losing 19.98% value. Followed by CRP Risk Manage, Dynamic Cables, Xeplmoc Design and Humming Bird dropping 19.44%, 17.48%, 11.80% and 9.97% respectively. On the NSE platform, DP Wires lost the most value at 9.99%. Other losers include Prime Focus, Global Vectra, Prime Sec and Krebs Biochem decreasing by 9.73%, 9.25%, 7.28% and 6.42% respectively.

On Sensex index, Bharti Airtel dropped the most pulling the market in red with 5.71%. Followed by TCS, Bajaj Finance, Tech Mahindra and Infosys dipping 3.74%, 3.48%, 1.83% and 1.75% respectively. On the Nifty 50 index, Bharti Airtel fell by 5.72%. In addition, other losers from today’s session included Bajaj Finserv, Sun Pharma, Cipla and Hero MotoCorp declining 5.06%, 2.18%, 1.82% and 1.72% respectively.

FII and DII

Foreign Institutional Investors saw a hike in investment in the Indian equity market with a net rise of INR 4716.13 crores. A total of INR 11849.98 crores of shares bought. A value equivalent to INR 7133.85 crores were sold-off during the session. Restarting of the Indian economy with certain measures held the sentiments high.

Domestic Institutional Investors bought shares of value INR 6700.02 crores. While a total value of 3858.93 crores of shares sold intraday marking a rise in domestic investment. Domestic investors hoping for good returns invested a net value of 2841.04 crores.

As compared to last session’s close, investors’ sentiments are rising in hope of good returns from Indian equity market.
