Punjab moves 30 lakh metric tonnes of food grain procured for FCI out of the state. Around 1.16 lakh metric tonnes were moving to other states daily amid the rail roko protest in 30 places in the state.
Officials Creating Awareness for Seamless Movement of FCI Foodgrains
A senior official of the FCI of Punjab region explained that their staff is creating awareness among the farmers regarding the importance of shifting grains. Also, the state is transporting around 1.16 lakh metric tonnes of foodgrain on an average daily. This is the highest amount of grains transported since the rail roko campaign began. Further, he explained how this would help the state in getting CCL for the ongoing paddy season. Hence, farmers allowed special trains to operate so that they can carry these food grains.
Rs 700 crore Received Till Now
Bharat Bhushan Ashu, Food and Civil Supplies Minister stated that the state had received Rs 700 crore till now. Also, he added that the state has 60 lakh metric tonnes of rice and 143 lakh metric tonnes of wheat stocks left. The authorities will need to liquidate these to FCI to clear the rest of the dues.
Congress Organizes Kheti Bachao Yatra in Punjab
Rahul Gandhi and Capt Amarinder Singh interacted with farmers and addressed a rally in Sangrur. While the Congress leader alleged the Central government for finishing farmers and labourers through the legislation, the state’s CM assured them that he would pass a resolution in Vidhan Sabha to nullify the new farm laws.
In all, the farmers extended their support understanding link between the movement of grains and obtaining CCL needed by the state to buy paddy, which will soon start to pour in Mandis.
