Overall coronavirus count in Punjab surged to 2805 today. Total Coronavirus cases reported in the state today stand at 86. Further, active cases as on date jump to 518. In the last 24 hours, 65 COVID-19 patients recovered in Punjab. Fortunately, no deaths recorded today.
Punjab confirms 94 COVID-19 positive cases out of every 1 million people.
COVID-19 District Wise Report
Amritsar District remains the worst affected as the COVID-19 tally jumps to 515, of which 13 reported today. Jalandhar and Ludhiana Districts follow closely with 312 and 277 cases respectively with 1 and 11 cases reported today. Currently, 18 of every 100 positive cases are active in the state. Pathankot recorded the most cases today as 19 people from the district confirmed positive.
Punjab Coronavirus Death Rate and Cured Cases
Mortality rate in Punjab decreased to 1.96% against the national average of 2.79%. Punjab has one of the highest Coronavirus recovery rate in India with a recovery rate of 79.57%. So far, a total of 2232 patients have been cured. Also, the state death toll stands at 55.
Technology Aiding to Monitor Quarantined People
Punjab government is planning to employ the Global Position System (GPS) Trackers to monitor the whereabouts of the quarantined. Further, the tracker can be interspersed with Punjab’s COVA app. The officials can keep an eye on the COVID guidelines violators. Also, the tracker is reusable after one’s 14 days quarantine period.
CM Amarinder Singh Acknowledges Milkha Singh
Following the video Milkha posted urging the people to fight the pandemic, CM thanked the Flying Sikh for his time and support. Earlier, Milkha Singh requested citizens to use masks and maintain social distancing. Also, he emphasizes the significance of washing hands over three times a day.
Punjab Shifts to Direct Seeding of Rice (DSR)
Due to the lack of migrant labourers, the farmers are using DSR to sow paddy. Additionally, the high rates that the local labourers demand amid Coronavirus led the highest DSR area sowing. Since the year 2009-10, the government is trying to inculcate the technology as the DSR method saves water.
