Basmati rice prices in India remained stable on 21.03.2020. With Janata Curfew imposed all over India today all mandi’s, retailers, traders, wholesalers and millers remain closed today. Domestic demand in the coming weeks to remain high as rice and other grain stocking among the population remains high. Many states will impose a lock down till 31st march 2020 all over India.

Non-basmati prices in India remain stable amid high domestic demand. High freight, low inventory of containers and low export demand remains a matter of concern for the industry. Many countries have limited port arrival or closed ports until the 31st of March due to coronavirus outbreak and widespread. Essential commodities import will not be impacted by these regulations therefore, demand will likely pick up in April.
