Rice market witnessed a downfall amid low export demand. Prices fell by 100-200 rupees per quintal since the last update. Saudi Arabia and Yemen have been importing basmati rice from India in bulk for the past two months. However, orders decreased since last week that further affected the prices.

Basmati Rice Prices in India as on 11 May 2020
Prices of non-basmati rice increased by 100-200 rupees per quintal across India. Prices might further increase if INR weakens against USD. Limited stock, increase in demand and substantial exports leading to an increase in non-basmati rice prices in India.
Ports across India face a massive labour shortage. This problem has significantly impacted the quantum of export from India, especially food grains.
