Basmati rice prices decreased by Rupees 50 to 100 per quintal for many basmati rice variants. Many government procurement agencies raided custom milling rice mills in Punjab and Haryana. It was further revealed that many millers procured basmati paddy at MSP instead of Parmal non-basmati variety. This illegal trade led to increased paddy procurement payment for FY 2019-20 as per data. Non-basmati rice prices remained the same as last update.
