Market stable and prices remain unchanged for basmati rice varieties. News of government cutting reserve price for sale of its excess stock of white rice. Government plans to cut reserve price from Rs 2785 per quintal to Rs 2250 might bring prices of non-basmati rice down significantly. It will be a significant loss to FCI and allied agencies procuring stock for the government. Seems like the government would rather waste taxpayer’s money than invest in agriculture planning in India.
