Sensex closed with a gain of 284 points at 34109 after losing 400 points in the afternoon session. NSE Nifty 50, crossed the 10000-mark to close at 10061 surging by 82 points after dropping from a high of 10200. Increased selling pressure was experienced in the afternoon session, which forced Sensex and Nifty50 to collapse and close low.
Indian equity market witnessed continuous gains for the 6th straight day, the longest streak this year. Markets are currently experiencing buoyancy in stock value, but experts suggest volatility this week. Also, In the last hour of today’s session, high selling was experienced as investors sold stocks booking profit with fears of instability to hit the market. Banking stocks led the rally pulling the market to remain in the green.
Top Gainers: S&P BSE Sensex and Nifty50
In the BSE market, Wendt surged the most by 20%. Further, Axita Cotton, Nandan Denim, Khadim India and Electrotherm jumped by 20%, 20%, 19.99% and 19.97% respectively. In the NSE, Tainwala Chem topped the list by 20%. Other gainers include Saregama India, GeeCee Ventures, Kamdhenu and Borosil rising by 19.99%, 19.96%, 19.95% and 19.93% respectively.
On BSE Sensex index, M&M was the top gainer by 4.82%. Further, Kotak Mahindra, SBI, Nestle and ONGC surged by 3.31%, 2.70%, 2.38% and 2.13% respectively. On NSE Nifty50 index, Kotak Mahindra was on the top by 3.25%. Other gainers from the list include Bajaj Finance, ICICI Bank, Tata Motors and BPCL rising in value by 2.80%, 2.43%, 2.33% and 2.18% respectively.
Losers: S&P BSE Sensex and Nifty50
In the BSE market, Simmonds-Marsha lost the most by 12.28%. Further, Vanta Bioscienc, KGIL, LKP Finance and ITL Industries lost 9.95%, 8.24%, 7.86% and 7.42% respectively. In the NSE market, Adani Power lost the most by 6.22%. Other losers include Premier Polyfil, Arvind Smart and Kothari Sugars dropping by 5.82%, 5.74% and 5.30% respectively.
On BSE Sensex index, NTPC dropped the most by 2.12%. Other losers include Bharti Airtel, Maruti Suzuki, Infosys and ITC dipping 1.13%, 1.13%, 0.95% and 0.18% respectively. On NSE Nifty50 index, Wipro was the on the top by 2.08%. Further, Bharti Infratel, Zee Entertainment Ltd., UPL and Coal India losing 1.90%, 1.63%, 1.32% and 1.19% respectively.
FII and DII
Foreign Institutional Investors bought stocks of value INR 9979.47 crores and sold-off INR 8128.35 crores of stocks during today’s session. They invested a net amount of INR 1851.12 crores in Indian financial market marking continuous gains.
Domestic Institutional Investors took out a net amount of INR 781.79 crores from the domestic equity market tracking sharp buying in today’s afternoon session. They bought stocks of value INR 4633.07 crores and sold-off stocks of value INR 5414.86 crores during the trading session.
