Maharashtra remains the worst affected state in India with a total of 120504 COVID-19 cases as the state witnessed 3752, the highest single-day spike. A total of 5751 deaths recorded so far, of which 100 noted today. Coronavirus cases growth in Maharashtra is rising sharply. 60838 patients have recovered in the state so far.
Coronavirus Cases in Mumbai
The total number of cases in Mumbai district stands at a concerning number at 62799. Today alone, Mumbai reported 1298 new cases. Following that, Thane district is the second-worst affected district with over 20167 cases. Also, Pune district reported 13250 COVID-19 positive cases so far. The least affected area in Maharashtra is Wardha with a total of 14 COVID-19 positive cases, and no cases reported today.
COVID-19 Testing in Maharashtra
Maharashtra has tested 719637 COVID-19 samples so far. The state health officials confirm testing around 5891 people per million. Further, Maharashtra confirms 956 positive cases for every 1 million. For every 100 positive cases, 44 are active in the state.
Death Rate and Cured Cases
Mortality rate stands still at 4.77%. The death rate is higher than the national average of 3.31%. The recovery rate of the state increased to 50.49%. Till date, a total of 60838 patients have been cured. While the death rate stands at a concerning 5751, over half of the country’s death toll.
COVID-19 Cases among Cops in the State
366 policers have cured so far in Maharashtra Police Force. Total active coronavirus cases in the Maharashtra force stand at 1033 while the death toll stands at 45.
Containment and Micro-Containment Zones in Pune
Over 9.28 km is allocated under micro-containment zones in Pune while the number of containment zones in Pune is 73. Pune Municipal Corporation came to this conclusion to free the least or unaffected areas. Also, this allotment will help seal the affected areas, thus separating the worst-hit zones from the least affected zones. Pune district reports 13250 COVID-19 cases 6713 recoveries till date.
Maharashtra to Open Schools Amid Coronavirus Pandemic
Even though Maharashtra currently hosts the highest number of COVID-19 cases in India, the State Government decides to reopen the educational institutes. Recently, CM Uddhav Thackery, Educational Minister, Varsha Gaikwad and officials concluded that educational institutes in non- red zones would commence from July 1st. Meanwhile, the lower primary classes will begin in August.
