Kerala is one among the few states in India that are witnessing the second wave of Coronavirus cases. As of now, the COVID-19 cases in Kerala are 2913 as 118 cases reported today. The state has 1380 active cases as 96 recovered in the state today. The death toll remains at 22.
Kerala Coronavirus District Wise Report
Kasaragod District remains the worst affected with over 389 Coronavirus cases. Coronavirus cases in Kannur district stand at 335 while Palakkad and Malappuram districts report 327 and 326 cases respectively. All Districts in Kerala have reported 64 or more Coronavirus cases till date. There are two cases from other states also in Kerala.
Death Rate and Cured Cases
Mortality rate stands 0.76% compared to the national average of 3.31%

High COVID-19 Testing in Kerala
Kerala continues to follow contact testing religiously, and social distancing immensely contributes to containing the infection. Tests conducted until 18th June by the state is 169035. Total tests conducted increased to 4812 per million people, one of the highest testing rate in the country.
Negative COVID-19 Certificate Mandatory
Addressing that, the severity of the pandemic is high Kerala to contain the spread has advised returnees to take a test before boarding a flight. Even though NRIs and opposition parties are against the idea, Kerala Minister issues the said order. Further, he requests the governments to conduct free tests in cases the returnee belongs to a backward class.
A 28 Year Old Succumbed his Life to Coronavirus Infection
Sunil Kumar, a 28-year-old officer in charge of monitoring quarantined people, tested positive recently. Initially, he developed pneumonia and in a few days that followed tested positive for COVID-19 infection. Subsequently, on Thursday passed away. He is the second youngest person to die in the state.
