Karnataka COVID-19 tally surges to 6245 as 204 new Coronavirus cases today. Concurrently, it recorded 114 recoveries taking the cured count to 2976. Active cases in the state stand at 3195. Three deaths were also reported today taking the death toll in the state to 72.

Karnataka COVID-19 District Wise Report
Udupi remains on top of the worst-hit districts in Karnataka, with 969 COVID-19 positive cases out of which 22 new cases reported today. Kalaburagi and Yadgir Districts follow with 796 and 735 Coronavirus positive cases respectively. Further, Yadgir District recorded the highest number of COVID-19 cases in the state today with 66 people testing positive.
Death Rate and Cured Cases in Karnataka
Mortality rate increased to 1.15% and remains way below the national average of 2.79%. Total of Recovered cases increased to 2976. The death toll is at now 72 in Karnataka. Total COVID-19 testing in the state stands at 4,08,506 on 10th June.
Karnataka Considering to Ban Online Classes till 8th Grade
On Wednesday, the state government banned online classes for students below Class 5. Following that, cabinet ministers have advised extending the ban till Class 8. Also, the committee is yet to issue guidelines for online classes. Until then, the institutes, as well as parents, will have minimal or no clarity over the topic. Meanwhile, the Karnataka Secondary Examination Board has released SSLC admit card for the 2020 exam.
COVID-19 Deaths in Karnataka
Majority of COVID-19 deaths in the state are due to delay in reaching hospitals. Officials report that patients are brought to the hospitals at later stages of the infection. Thus, recovery becomes very difficult. Further, he added that 65% of fatalities due to infected patients aged above 60. The mortality rate with ILI symptoms is 11.1 among the same age group. Subsequently, Karnataka has decided to test SARI and ILU victims for COVID-19 by swabbing within 6 hours of death.
