Total of 372 new Coronavirus cases reported in West Bengal today as total cases hike to 8985. Active cases as on date stand at 4950 as a total of 3620 patients have recovered and 415 deaths in the state.
As presented on the graph, Coronavirus cases in West Bengal are rising at a gradual speed. The growth rate in the past week increased to 7%.
COVID-19 District Wise Report
Kolkata District remains the worst affected with over 3000 Coronavirus cases. In the last 24 hours, Kolkata reported 132 positive cases making the overall tally 3018. Following that, Howrah and 24 North Parganas Districts confirmed 1495 and 1186 cases. All 23 Districts in the state have reported 11 or more COVID-19 cases till date. Jhargram district has the least number of cases that is 11.
Tests in the State
Tests conducted till 9th June by the state are 287900. On 9th June, 7802 sample were tested for COVID-19 infection. For every 1 million people 2971 people have been tested. Also, 2 testing labs were added in the state. As of now, total testing laboratories in West Bengal are 43.
Death Rate and Cured Cases
The coronavirus death rate in West Bengal is at an alarming level of 4.62% compared to the national average of 2.81%. The recovery rate is at 40.29% with over 3620 recoveries so far. The death toll is at 415 as 10 deaths were noted in the state today.
West Bengal to Resume Educational Institutes Post June 30
The Union HDR Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal recently announced that educational centers across the country will open after August 30. Meanwhile, State Education Minister Partha Chatterjee hinted that the authorities of the state plan to resume the activity after June. The schools have remained shut for over 3 months due to the novel coronavirus outbreak.
