Breaching the one million mark, Coronavirus cases in India jumped to 1005637. After the USA and Brazil, India is the third-worst hit country in the world due to COVID-19 pandemic. Of the total number of Coronavirus cases, 31694 were reported today. As till date, India has 343041 active cases, a total of 636690 COVID-19 patients have recovered, and 25906 deaths have been recorded so far.
Recently, India observed a sharp spike in COVID-19 cases from recording less than 20,000 positive cases per day to over 30,000 cases per day. According to ICMR’s latest published figures, total testing of Coronavirus in India stands at 1,27,39,490. India’s Coronavirus recovery rate stands at 63% approximately while the fatality rate increased to 2.57%.

The Worst-Affected States in India
Over 86% of the total cases are from 10 Coronavirus hit states in India, confirms the Health Ministry. Further, 50% of those belong to two states- Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra. Concerns lie over these six worst-hit states in India discussed below:
Maharashtra Coronavirus Case Count Nears 3 Lakh
Experts predict that by the end of this week, Maharashtra will record over 3 lakh COVID-19 cases. The state reported 8641 positive cases today taking the COVID-19 tally to 284281. Out of which, 114648 are active in the state, as 5527 cured in the state today. The total recovered case in the state now stands at 158140, and the death toll mounts to 11194.
Maharashtra coronavirus growth rate is at 3%, the recovery rate is at 55.63%, and the death rate is at 3.94%.
Mumbai District is the worst affected, currently, housing 97950 positive cases in Maharashtra. It is expected to cross the one lakh mark in the coming days. Following that, Thane and Pune have 69471 and 46668 COVID-19 cases, respectively. Meanwhile, rest of the districts have 44 or more coronavirus cases.
Tamil Nadu COVID-19 Active Cases Nears 50000
Currently, Tamil Nadu has 156369 positive coronavirus cases, of which, 4549 recorded today. The number of active cases jumps to 46717 as 5106 COVID-19 discharged and 69 died in the state today. The total recovered count increased to 107416 while death tally stands at 2236.
Tamil Nadu COVID-19 growth rate is at 3%, the recovery rate is at 68.69%, and the death rate is at 1.43%.
Chennai is severely hit by the pandemic with over 15042 positive coronavirus cases. Subsequently, Thiruvallur and Madurai are the next worst-hit districts in the state with 3181 and 2929 positive coronavirus cases. Perambalur remains the least hit district with 22 coronavirus cases. Tamil Nadu has 3 COVID-19 positive cases from other states.
Delhi Recovered Cases Nears 1 lakh
Despite being third on the list enlisting the Coronavirus worst hit states, Delhi has begun to control the spread of the virus. Delhi reported 1652 positive cases today comparably lower than the last week.
As on date, Delhi has 118645 COVID-19 positive cases, of which 17407 are active cases. So far, 97693 recovered in the national capital. The death toll stands at 3545 with 58 fatalities noted today.
Delhi’s infection growth rate is at 2%, the recovery rate is at 82.34%, and the death rate is at 2.99%.
Till July 15, Delhi tested 736436 COVID-19 tests. Accordingly, it conducts 38188 tests per 1 million people. Delhi conducted 22528 coronavirus tests on 15 July alone.
Karnataka Crosses 50000 Coronavirus Cases
With cases rising sharply in Karnataka for two weeks, the COVID-19 count jumps to 51422. Today alone that state recorded 4169 new cases. The number of active cases in the state rises to 30651. The total number of recoveries are 19730 as 1263 COVID-19 patients recovered today. With over 100 death, the state death tall crosses 1000 to 1037.
Karnataka’s coronavirus growth rate is at 9%, the recovery rate is at 38.37%, and the death rate is at 2.02%.
Bengaluru remains the worst-hit district in Karnataka with 18825 positive cases. The cases are growing at an alarming rate while still battling with fewer beds and medical staff. Following that are Dakshina Kannada and Dharwad with 1758 and 1007 positive cases.
Coronavirus Cases in Gujarat Stand at 45567
Gujarat noted 919 COVID-19 positive cases today. The COVID-19 tally increases to 45567. The active cases in the state now stand at 11303 as 828 cured and 10 deaths reported today. The total recovered tally jumps to 32174 and death toll mounts 2090.
Gujarat COVID-19 infection rate is at 2%, recovery rate is at 70.61%, and mortality rate is at 4.59%
Ahmedabad is the worst-hit district in Gujarat with 3621 positive cases. Surat is the second-worst hit with 3046 coronavirus cases. Dang and Devbhumi are the least affected with 3 COVID-19 positive cases each.
Uttar Pradesh Records 2058 COVID-19 Cases Today
Uttar Pradesh is the 6 worst-hit state in India with 43441 positive cases. As on date, it has 157220 active cases. With 932 discharges, the recovered tally increases to 26675. Sadly, 34 died today taking the death toll to 1046.
Uttar Pradesh COVID-19 infection rate is at 5%, the recovery rate is at 61.41%, and the mortality rate is at 2.41%
Coronavirus cases in Lucknow are increasing at a concerning level. Currently, it houses 1971 COVID-19 positive cases. Besides, Ghaziabad also has high positive cases that are 1497. Following that is Gautam Buggha Nagar district with 947 positive cases.
In all, the sharp rise in COVID-19 cases is affecting the nation as well as its citizens. It is essential that the government must formulate necessary measures to contain the spread.
