Gurgaon Imposes Section 144 After Seeing 3K cases everyday now
Gurgaon’s total number of COVID-19 infections crosses 1 lakh mark after registering over 3000 everyday for four days. Keeping in mind the excess surge, Deputy Commissioner Yash Garg imposed Section 144 today.

Karnataka to Provide Free Vaccines to People Between the Age 18-44
At the government centers, people will get the vaccines for free of cost and the state urged the eligible people to register for doses from Wednesday. Also, CM highlighted that people above 45 will continue to receive the vaccine doses as usual.

States and Indian Corporates Might get the Freedom to Import COVID-19 Vaccines
Modi’s government aims to encourage domestic vaccine production by promising to buy from them. But, owing to th erecent surge in cases the rules are a bit relaxed. Now Modi is giving the states option to sign deals with foreign vaccine makers to reach the demand. However, the center is still going to buy just from domestic drugmakers.

Countries are Extending their Support to India
The UK is sending ventilators while the US is lifting ban on exporting raw materials so that India can receive all the raw materials to make AstraZeneca vaccine. Pakistan and France have also promised to send in aid in the coming days.

Karnataka Chief Secretary Announces Lockdown, Government says No Lockdown
Karnataka Reported 34804 new COVID-19 cases which is the single highest day spike ever. The total COVID-19 cases in the state jumped to 13,39,201. Karnataka government will discuss lockdown and free vaccination drive today.
The chief secretary earlier today issued a lockdown order while the Karnataka Government denied the same. Confusion continues on whether the government is going to impose lockdown in the state.

Delhi Government Announces Free COVID Vaccines for Everyone Above 18 Years of Age
Delhi government today decided to provide free vaccines to everyone above 18 years of age. The government approved the purchase of 1.34 crore vaccines. CM Kejriwal said that “he will make an effort to ensure that it is purchased soon and administered at the earliest to people.”
However, confusion on pricing still remains an issue. One vaccine producer stated that they will provide vaccines to the state government for INR 400 per dose and the second producer stated that they will provide at INR 600 per dose. But both of them will keep the price at INR 150 per dose for the Central Government.

Sir Ganga Ram Hospital Still Struggling for Oxygen Supply Despite Multiple Pleas to the Government
We have 104 oxygen cylinders, used to transfer extremely ill COVID patients from COVID emergency to ICU and from Wards to ICU in case of emergency. All 104 cylinders were sent 3 days back to 3 locations for an emergency refill. For the last three days, our staff and transport are camping there but to no avail. Currently, the hospital is in beg and borrow mode and it is an extreme crisis situation. Hospital has arranged two cylinders which are also going to finish quickly.

Microsoft and Google Donate to Supply Medical Supplies and Oxygen Concentrators to India
Google CEO Sundar Pichai issued a statement today, “Devastated to see worsening Covid crisis in India. Google to provide Rs 135 Crores in funding to GiveIndia, UNICEF for medical supplies, org supporting high-risk communities, and grants to help spread critical information.”
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella also extended support citing, “Heartbroken by the current situation in India. I’m grateful the US govt is mobilizing to help. Microsoft will continue to use its voice, resources, and tech to aid relief efforts and support the purchase of critical oxygen concentration devices.”
