Basmati prices opened strong today. However, demand in international and domestic market is at minimal currently. Prices are expected to remain stable as farmers are not willing to sell their paddy below Rs 2700-2800 per quintal range for 1121 basmati and 2500 per quintal for 1509 basmati. Reports of bumper crop of 1401 pusa basmati also surfaced in the market. Non-basmati prices remain stable however, due to reports of Cyclone Maha movement in Kandla and Mundra port is restricted at the moment.
