Maharashtra remains the worst affected state in India with a total of 97648 COVID-19 cases. As the state witnessed the highest single-day hike of 3607 Coronavirus positive cases today. Active cases as on date stand at 47980. A total of 3590 deaths recorded so far, of which 152 were noted today, the highest deaths recorded in a day. Coronavirus Cases in Mumbai
The total number of cases in Mumbai district stands at a concerning number at 54085. Today alone, Mumbai reported 1418 new cases. Following that, Thane district is the second-worst affected district with over 15679 cases, of which 959 were recorded today. Also, Pune district reported 476 new cases today taking the total to 10882. The least affected district in Maharashtra is Wardha with a total of 14 COVID-19 positive cases, and no cases reported today.
COVID-19 Testing in Maharashtra
Maharashtra has tested 610790 COVID-19 samples so far. The state health officials confirm testing around 5000 people per million. Further, Maharashtra confirms 799 positive cases for every 1 million. For every 100 positive cases, 49 are active in the state.
Death Rate and Cured Cases
Mortality rate increased to 3.68% from 3.66%. The death rate is higher than the national average of 2.79%. The recovery rate of the state decreased from 47.34% to 47.19%. Till date, a total of 46078 patients have been cured. While the death rate stands at a alarming 3590, over half of the country’s death toll.
COVID-19 Cases among Cops in the State
For the third consecutive day in Maharashtra police force, no new cases and deaths reported. Total coronavirus cases in the Maharashtra force stand at 2,562 while the death toll stands at 34.
CM Warns Lockdown Extension
CM Uddhav Thackery on Wednesday warned the lockdown might be reimposed in Maharashtra due to increasing cases in the state. He further added that the current unlock phase is risky, considering the massive spread of the infection. Additionally, Mr Thackery hinted that the government is assessing the situation and will impose rules if and when required. Also, he mentioned that the government is working towards ‘Mission Begin Again’.
COVID-19 Patient Body Found in Hospital Toilet
An 82-year-old coronavirus patient who was missing for 8 days was found in the toilet of a hospital in Jalgaon district. The body was found after its stench spread and the toilet door was broken. As of now, a case has been filed and the matters are being dealt with. Soon, the officials promise to punish the guilty.
